GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

As America’s most-visited National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is renown for its diversity of plant and animal life. Whirlwind created two series of interpretive waysides that showcase both its natural and cultural significance.

In the first series, placed throughout the nearly half-millon acre park—one of the largest protected areas in the United States—the panels focus on the wildlife, habitats and the cultural history of the park.

The second series of panels focuses specifically on the Elkmont Historic District, an area originally developed for logging and later adapted for recreation and as an escape from “city life” with a series of summer cottages and club houses.
