This interactive gallery is a highlight of a larger Agricultural Education Center, which takes you through the journey of food — from the essential elements of life to the food on your plate. With eight activity stations, the journey begins with an interactive puzzle of the elements that comprise life on earth to the cycles of growing and producing food, to the packaging and preserving, transporting, and marketing food. You end the journey at the Food Counter to learn about food miles— how far your food travels to get to your plate for breakfast and lunch. The focus in the Journey of Food, beyond understanding the process of growing and distribution, is to promote healthy, whole and local foods.
