CENTENNIAL OLYMPIC MUSEUM

The 1996 Centennial Olympic Games accelerated Atlanta’s transformation from southern capital to international city. With its spectacular collection of multimedia presentations, artifacts, images, interactive displays, and a dedicated interactive Sports Lab, the Centennial Olympic Games Museum houses one of the most significant exhibitions on Olympic sport and history in the United States.

The exhibition is an exciting blend of artifacts, graphic design, media and interactive technologies used to present the hundreds of factoids, personal narratives, athletes’ memories and reflections on the game. Through an interactive computer game that links 12 stations with the winner’s platform, visitors young and old compete with each other to test their knowledge of various theme areas. The large two-story atrium, complete with replica columns from Centennial Park, provides a gathering space for school groups, a four screen multi-media theater and a view beyond to the 16 days of athletic events or a view above to the Olympic Sports Lab.
