Hands-on Interactives Support Discovery and Learning.
Our Hands-on products include games, puzzles, moving parts and touch screens. We design, prototype and produce many different kinds of hands-on activities. We offer these design ideas and prototypes to you. We call them prototypes because each can be modified to meet your content requirements or scaled up or down to match your space or budget requirements.
Our process is to work with you to match the appropriate interactive to the needs of your project. We start with an initial concept and work with you to scale the interactive to meet your requirements. Next, we develop the content and graphic style for your review. Once we have an approved design we can prototype the interactive or build the final product.
The goal is to match your learning objective with the appropriate activity.
PLAY IT
Games are designed to invite participation of more than one user. Chance and skill engage users in fun ways. The interaction is as much between participants as the game itself. The outcome of a game changes each time we play. Our game designs encourage cooperation more than competitive play, where we learn from playing, whether we win or lose.
FIT IT
Puzzles capture our imagination in many ways. Putting pieces together is satisfying and does something to tease the brain. Both perplexing and challenging, puzzles are amazingly satisfying when we see the full picture revealed in that instant of inserting the final piece.
SPIN IT
There are some concepts that are better presented with a wheel — from diurnal and seasonal cycles to earth cycles and life cycles. Our circular interactives help users to better understand circularity in the content we illustrate.
FLIP IT
Flip the panel over to discover the answer to a question or create a different picture. It can be engaging by prompting the user to interpret what they are looking at. It’s a kind of interactive caption or brain game to test what you think you know.
SLIDE IT
Sliding is a particularly rewarding motion, where a panel slides back and forth to reveal a fun fact. It’s a great way to illustrate distance or time traveled.
ROTATE IT
Our cylinders and trylons are a popular way to communicate more information, like a large rotating book, matching activity or memory game. The cylinder or trylon increases the content while making the act of reading and learning more enticing.
TOUCH IT
The 21st century ushered in the age of digital media and touchscreens. They are everywhere in our everyday lives: smart phones, tablets and public kiosks. The flick of a finger brings new content to the screen in the form of a game, accessing information and entertainment. What we design and implement in the form of interactive exhibits is easily adapted for on-line access.
