With the client or with the audience at large, every project involves diplomacy. Sometimes, the subject may be extremely charged, be it working with different ethnic or religious groups, environmental issues, gender inequities or ideas prompting public debate.

Should design avoid controversy, if public debate is at the heart of a progressive and free society? Not always. But, we are also sensitive to the possibilities of misunderstanding that exist amongst a broad and diverse audience, and the responsibilities that institutions and organizations have in encouraging public discourse and dissent, but not discontent.
